Boxe anglaise : les origines !
La boxe est une discipline de combat qui remonte à une époque lointaine. Pour preuve AV JC, certaines œuvres mésopotamiennes immortalisent la discipline (à l’époque à mains nues). Les gants feront leur apparition avec la progression de la pratique du Pugilat.
Le combat se déroule entre deux adversaires, dans une zone déterminée. L’objectif est simple, contraindre à l’abandon.

La boxe anglaise moderne comme nous la connaissons aujourd’hui date de 1865, avec l’obligation de porter des gants de protection.
Les règles n’autorisent que l’usage des poings au travers de divers enchaînements composés de directs, hypercuts ou crochets. Les touches sont portées au dessus de la ceinture (visage et haut du corps).
Un système de points détermine le combattant victorieux. Un combat peut-être remporté par KO (knock-out), lorsque l’un des combattants est inapte physiquement selon l’arbitre.

La discipline est ouverte à un large public. Elle se pratique en boxe loisir, boxe éducative assaut, boxe pré-combat, boxe amateur (niveau olympique) ainsi que boxe professionnelle.
L’art noble à pour objectifs d’améliorer les capacités physiques, la motricité du corps et de renforcer les capacités mentales.
